Control Types for Venetian Blinds

Which control system is right for your Venetian blinds? We offer several options, from traditional manual controls to convenient motorised solutions. Here we present six different control types and explain how they work.

Available control options depend on the Venetian blind model you choose. Always check the available options in the product configurator.

1. Between-Glass Venetian Blinds – Traditional Controls

Between-glass Venetian blinds are installed between the panes of coupled windows. The blind is usually raised and lowered using a pull cord, while a tilt rod adjusts the angle of the slats.

The controls normally pass through the inner window frame. This installation protects the blind between the glass panes without taking up space inside the room.

2. Free-Hanging Venetian Blinds with Tilt Rod and Pull Cord

Traditional free-hanging Venetian blinds are installed on the inside of the window, for example on the window frame, inside the window recess or in front of the window.

A tilt rod adjusts the angle of the slats to control incoming light, while a separate pull cord raises and lowers the blind.

This is a traditional and easy-to-use solution suitable for many different types of windows.

3. Motorised Venetian Blinds

Motorised Venetian blinds provide convenient operation without traditional manual controls. Depending on the model and motor, the blinds can be operated using a remote control, wall switch or compatible smart home system.

Motorisation is particularly suitable for large windows, high or difficult-to-reach blinds and installations where several blinds need to be operated together.

Available motors, control functions and automation options vary depending on the selected model.

4. MonoMagic – Combined Control System

MonoMagic is an option for customers who prefer a combined and discreet operating system. It combines the functions for raising, lowering and tilting the Venetian blind slats in a single control.

This creates a clean appearance and reduces the need for separate operating components. The exact functions and availability depend on the selected blind model.

5. Chain Control – Convenient Operation

With a chain-operated system, the Venetian blind is controlled using a chain positioned at the side of the blind. Depending on the construction, the chain is used to raise and lower the blind and adjust the angle of the slats.

Chain control offers a combined operating solution and is an alternative to a traditional tilt rod and separate pull cord.

6. Crank Handle – For Larger Venetian Blinds

Crank handle operation is a manual solution available for certain larger Venetian blinds and special installations. The blind is operated using a crank handle instead of traditional pull cords.

The crank handle functions and compatible Venetian blind models depend on the construction of the selected system.

Which Venetian Blind Control Should I Choose?

Your choice mainly depends on the size of the blind, the window construction and how you want to operate your sun protection.

For traditional coupled windows, between-glass Venetian blinds are a common solution. For interior installations, several free-hanging models are available with different control options.

If your Venetian blinds are installed high up or are difficult to reach, motorised operation may be a practical alternative.

Remember to consider safety. Choose appropriate safety solutions for cords and chains, particularly in areas where children may be present.

Please note that not all control types are available for every Venetian blind model. The available options are displayed during the ordering process.
